2019 marks the 50th anniversary of RPAC (REALTOR® Political Action Committee).
"What is RPAC?" you may ask, RPAC raises funds voluntarily from members of Associations for use in issues, campaigns and contributions to political candidates at federal, state and local levels. RPAC’s purpose is to promote or defend issues that affect your livelihood and they do that by supporting candidates who support Realtor® issues.
What has RPAC done for New Mexico? This year alone:
Home Inspector Licensing – Legislation creating a Home Inspector Board and licensing requirement for home inspectors was successful. This initiative is important consumer protection legislation.
Fingerprinting – This legislation removes the requirement that fingerprints must be submitted at every license renewal – once is enough!
HOA Amendment - Fees that can be charged for disclosure documents are now capped at $300.
Auctioneer License Exemption – This legislation exempts auctioneers working under the control of a qualifying real estate broker from having to have a real estate license.
All of these bills were signed into law by the Governor!
