The 2020 Census officially starts March 12th and Lincoln County is the HARDEST county to count in the entire United States. I am asking for assistance in an effort to reach out to everyone in Lincoln County, to explain what the Census is and what the Census ISN'T. There seems to be a lack of understanding that holds folks back from participation.
A few quick points:
It is about knowing how many people live in Lincoln County
It will NOT raise taxes
Any personal info CANNOT be shared (not with marketing companies, government agencies [IRS, FBI, INS], Federal, state, county or local law enforcement, etc.).
What I am requesting from you is your thoughts on how to reach folks in your area of the county.
Are there county or village personnel that I can contact to assist me on this outreach?
Are there organizations or groups (Lions, Rotary, Cowbelles, ranch groups, etc.) that I could contact?
Any outreach thoughts or ideas that might be beneficial?
I am going to be reaching out to each Village/City for their insight as well as approaching civic and religious organizations. Schools will also be an important part.
This is extremely important for Lincoln County. In the 2010 Census, we only had a 70% participation. The value of each person in the county for Federal funding is $2,950 a year. This 30% under-count was a loss of over $17 million a year to our county! This money helps fund the hospital and Medicaid, schools (Head Start, breakfasts and lunches), road planning and maintenance, Fire and Law enforcement, just to name a few.
I am available to talk with individuals, groups, functions, meetings, wherever I can. I am able to host events to help get folks together.
Please let me know if you have ideas for me to get the word out. Feel free to email, text or call me.
