Section 5. To unite those engaged in the real estate profession in this community with the REALTORS® ASSOCIATION OF NEW MEXICO NEW MEXICO ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS®, hereinafter referred to as “RANM” “NMAR”, and the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS®, hereinafter referred to as “NAR”, thereby furthering their own objectives throughout the State and the Nation and obtaining the benefits and privileges of Membership therein.

Section 5. Continuing REALTOR® Code of Ethics Training
Effective January 1, 2017, through December 31, 2018, January 1, 2019, through December 31, 2021 and for successive two (2) three year periods thereafter, each REALTOR® Member of RLCAR (with the exception of REALTOR® members granted REALTOR® Emeritus status by the National Association) shall be required to complete ethics training, of not less than two (2) hours and thirty (30) minutes of instructional time. This requirement will be satisfied upon presentation of documentation that the member has completed a course of instruction conducted by this or another REALTOR® association, the State Association of REALTORS®, or NAR, or any other recognized educational institute or provider which meets the learning objectives and minimum criteria established by NAR, from time to time. REALTOR® members who have completed training as a requirement of membership in another association and REALTOR® members who have completed the New Member Code of Ethics Orientation during any two (2) three year cycle shall not be required to complete additional ethics training until a new two (2) three year cycle commences.
Failure to satisfy this requirement the required periodic ethics training shall be considered a violation of a membership duty. Failure to meet the requirement in any two (2) three year cycle will result in suspension of membership for the first two months (January and February) of the year following the end of the two (2) three year cycle or until the requirement is met, whichever occurs sooner. On March 1 of that year, the membership of a member who is still suspended as of that date will be automatically terminated. (Adopted 1/01, amended 11/08, NAR Mandatory Amendment 11/2016)

Section 1. Officers. The elective officers of RLCAR shall be a President, a President-Elect, and a Secretary-Treasurer, and a Treasurer-Elect. The Secretary-Treasurer-Elect shall be elected for a term of one year, then automatically succeed to the Office of Secretary-Treasurer for a term of one year, after which the Secretary-Treasurer shall serve on the Budget and Finance Committee as an ex-officio voting advisor for one year. The President-Elect shall be elected for a term of one year, then automatically succeed to the office of President for a term of one year after which time the President shall serve on the Board of Directors as the Immediate Past President for one year. IV. Treasurer-Elect. The Treasurer-Elect is a Secretary-Treasurer in training for one year. The Treasurer-Elect learns the job of the Secretary-Treasurer in preparation for being Secretary-Treasurer the following year. The Treasurer-Elect is in a training position, so is a non-voting member of the Executive Committee. The Treasurer-Elect does hold a voting position on the Board of Directors. The Treasurer-Elect shall perform such duties and responsibilities as are assigned by the President and the Board of Directors and, in the absence or inability of the Secretary-Treasurer to perform the duties of the office of Secretary-Treasurer, the Treasurer-Elect shall perform such duties.

Section 4. Election of Officers and Directors
At least two months before the annual election, a Nominating Committee consisting of the Immediate Past President as Vice Chair, the Immediate Past, Past President as Chair and at least three other REALTOR® members shall be appointed by the President with the approval of the Board of Directors. The Association Executive shall be ex-officio, non-voting member of the Nominating Committee. The Nominating Committee shall select at least two candidates for each of the offices of Secretary-Treasurer-Elect, and President-Elect, and at least two candidates for each place to be filled on the Board of Directors. The report of the Nominating Committee shall be mailed or electronically transmitted to each member eligible to vote at least three (3) weeks preceding the election. Additional candidates for the offices to be filled may be placed in nomination by petition signed by at least 20% of the REALTOR® members eligible to vote. The petition shall be filed with the Association Executive at least two (2) weeks before the election. The Association Executive shall send a notice of such additional nominations to all members eligible to vote before the election. (03/2011, Amended 5/2018)
